Once in a blue moon...

How often have you been seeing your chiropractor, to achieve and maintain good spinal health? If the answer is “once in a blue moon,” maybe you need to rethink your schedule!

Although many of our patients do tell us that they feel better after just one session, that is not really the end of the story! As I often ask patients, “Which is actually best, ‘feeling better’ or ‘getting better’?” Let’s take a look at the overall plan of care that South Square Chiropractic would like for most patients to follow:

Each of these phases may require multiple visits, and each patient’s timetable is different!

Phase 1 – Pain Relief – to ease the immediate pain, allowing you to resume crucial functions of everyday life. This includes careful diagnosis, spinal adjustments, therapies, and techniques for pain relief at home. This phase often requires multiple visits over a short time.

Phase 2 – Additional correction of dysfunction as you continue to heal – This phase includes adjustments and exercise instructions, to help you be as mobile, comfortable and flexible as possible – and help with the correction of lifestyle habits which may be delaying your healing.

Phase 3 – Rehabilitation to prevent future injury – Specific tailored exercises, correcting muscle imbalances and ensuring the problem stays away for as long as possible. Spinal adjustments in this maintenance phase often seem minor, but are crucial in preventing future episodes of debilitating pain. Patients learn the importance of regular care of their spine, and its importance to their overall health. Many are able to go 30 to 40 days between adjustments, in this phase.
