Exercises to Avoid

We must always be careful when exercising, especially when we use weights or resistance bands. Any motion or position that strains or stresses the spine or joints of the body should be avoided. Your form and your lifting technique are far more important than the amount you can lift, or how many repetitions you can perform.

One motion which can and often does result in major lower back pain is the twisting motion, such as twisting at the waist. To make matters worse, when twisting and bending are performed simultaneously, this is a recipe for disaster (lower back pain). This motion often traumatizes the vertebrae and also the discs of the lower back.

If you do these exercise motions too strenuously or repeatedly, you will be calling my office very soon!
