Prepare For Your First Visit
● Patient Forms: This paperwork provides us with your health history and information about your condition. To save time, you can fill these out before your appointment.● Consultation: Next, you will have a consultation with Dr. Chester Palumbo. This is an opportunity to discuss your health concerns and goals, and to determine if chiropractic care is right for you.● Examination: After your consultation, Dr. Palumbo will perform a complete chiropractic examination, including tests for your reflexes, flexibility, posture, and more.● X-Ray Studies: If needed, we may recommend X-rays. This helps us create an effective treatment plan and rule out any serious conditions. If you have recent X-rays or radiology reports (from the last six months), please bring them with you.● Report of Findings: Once the examination is complete, Dr. Palumbo will discuss his findings with you and answer any questions. He will review your health history and goals to provide a personalized wellness program and recommendations for your care.● Treatment: At the conclusion of your first appointment, you can choose to receive your first treatment. This may include spinal adjustments, physiotherapy, and/or mechanical traction.● Wellness Program: Before you leave, the doctor may suggest a wellness program for you to follow at home. This could include exercises, stretches, or tips for applying ice or heat. The purpose is to help you build healthy habits for lasting results.
What To Expect
Building a house requires a specific order. You can’t build a strong roof without a solid foundation. The same is true for your body. Chiropractic care focuses on restoring your body’s foundation, creating a personalized plan to address the source of your pain and help you build true, lasting health.
There are three general phases of chiropractic care:
Phase 1
Relief Care
If you are in pain when you come into our office, our first objective is to help you reduce pain and start feeling better as soon as possible. Depending on the severity of the underlying condition which is causing your pain, it is typical for a patient need chiropractic care 2 to 3 times per week for the first 2 to 3 weeks.
Phase 2
Corrective Care
During the corrective phase of chiropractic care, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely, which helps prevent further injury or pain. The goal of corrective or restorative chiropractic care is to help bring your body back to proper functioning. It is typical need chiropractic care about 4 – 6 times per month for 4 to 10 months, depending on your overall health and the severity of your problem.
Phase 3
Wellness Care
Once your body has healed and you are no longer experiencing back pain or other pain symptoms, it is important to come in for periodic chiropractic adjustments to avoid further problems in the future. Usually, this phase of chiropractic care only requires a quick visit 1-2 times per month, based on your lifestyle and goals.
